SHUTDOWN BY ESKOM MAY CAUSE WATER DISRUPTIONS IN PARTS OF THE METRO.
The Municipality wishes to inform residents that on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, a 6-hour shutdown will be required by Eskom to conduct critical work on their infrastructure. Unfortunately, this will affect the operations of the Nooitgedagt Water Treatment Works.
Eskom is fully aware of the critical drought situation and will therefore commit all available resources to ensure the shutdown duration is kept to a minimum.
The majority of the Metro's water is supplied from this treatment plant and although not anticipated, water disruptions may occur should storage be depleted before water supply is restored.
Residents are requested to use water for essential purposes only during the shutdown to preserve the storage. We also ask residents not to stockpile water.
The following areas may be affected:
1.Rowallan Park
2.Francis Evatt Park
3.Hunters Retreat
4.Bay West
5.Parsonsvlei / Westbrook
6.Morningside
7.Kabega Park
8.Sherwood

14.Framesby
15.Sunridge Park
16.Parts of Lorraine
17.Parts of Theescombe
18.Kamma Park

Further updates will be provided throughout the day.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.

FAKE NEWS REGARDING WATER OUTAGES
The municipality wishes to inform residents that fake messages regarding total water outages in the Metro tomorrow have gone viral on social media.
These messages are not true. We condemn the spread of fake news.
All our reservoirs have enough water and apart from Impofu, all other treatment plants are running.
Residents are encouraged to use water sparingly and not stockpile water, as this puts an additional strain on the supply system.
UPDATE ON EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN REQUIRED FOR SCHOENMAKERSKOP PUMP STATION & CHURCHILL PIPELINE.
All leaks on the pipeline have been successfully repaired however, a mechanical failure of a pump at Emerald Hill occurred when it was recommissioned.
Repair teams are assessing the damage and will execute repairs accordingly. The pump station is currently still able to supply approximately 75% of the zones normal demand.
If residents reduce their demand to 50 litres per person per day, disruptions should not be experienced.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
