As part of supporting the township economy, which is a key pillar of the NMBM Economic Recovery plan and to help reduce the impact of Covid-19 regulations on the Tavern Industry, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is offering support to qualifying Tavern owners to retain existing employees.
The incentive is for a stipend for a maximum of two (2) employees per Tavern. The incentive is limited to two (2) months per employee who had been retrenched or placed on short pay, due to the impact of Covid-19 lockdown regulations.
TO APPLY, TAVERN OWNERS CAN DOWNLOAD THE APPLICATION FORMS HERE:
ID copies of Owners, and certified copies of each Employee
Certified Copy of Valid Liquor Licence from the Eastern Cape Liquor Board.
This application is a formal request for assistance from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality only and does not guarantee that an incentive will be provided by the municipality, in part or as a whole. Employees must return to work for the period of funding approved. The municipality will endeavour to provide this assistance while there is budget available for this, on a first come first serve basis, where fully completed applications are received and the business meets all requirements. The assistance is limited and will be reviewed monthly and thus could be extended/retracted for various reasons that will be communicated. If application is successful, each employee would require proof of residence, proof of banking details, and certified copies of ID documents.
APPLICATIONS CLOSE ON 12 MARCH 2021 – 15H00.
Completed applications to be submitted to The Business Place at email@example.com or alternatively call The Business Place office at 041 450 1940 to make alternative arrangements.

Please note that when a goup / area has been switched off for loadshedding, customers are reminded to switch off their major appliances, i.e. stoves, geysers, pool pumps, heaters, air conditioners, etc. When the electricity is restored after a loadshedding slot, these high-consumption appliances normally draw a lot of current, causing a high demand on the electricity network. This causes the electricity circuit breakers in the substations to trip and is the reason why the electricity goes on, but then off again after a few minutes when NMBM switches the electricity back on. This results in damage to the already aged electricity infrastructure and causes prolonged power outages.Customers are advised to switch on their appliances one by one, allowing a few minutes' interval between each. We therefore urge consumers to continue assisting us in managing consumption in order to reduce the impact of loadshedding.
