UPDATE ON PARTS OF THE CITY EXPERIENCING DISRUPTIONS DUE TO DEPLETED STORAGE LEVEL AT EMERALD RESERVOIR - April 14, 2021
The City would like to update residents on the water disruptions some areas are experiencing. We are still currently unable to supply water to a large area of the Metro due to the depleted storage level at Emerald Hill Reservoir.
Last night's fault at the Churchill Water Treatment Works has since been repaired at 16H00 on 13 April 2021, however the system has failed to recover and Emeraldhill reservoir and is currently at 1,3%.
With day peak demand and draw off, the system is not likely to recover today. The system is vulnerable due to the ongoing drought and water production deficit and therefore we are not able to provide 100% assurance that water will be restored sooner.
At this stage, no time frames are available and the water provision continuity plan will be through water trucks.

SUSPENSION OF E-NEWSPAPER AND E-MAGAZINE SERVICES
The NMBM Library services regret to inform its NMBM community that its e-newspaper and e-magazine service is suspended with immediate effect until further notice due to technical and administrative challenges. The Library service is doing its best to restore normal services. We are hoping to have resolved our challenges within a month.
However, our users may still access the e-book and audiobook service (Overdrive) by going through the municipal website or via downloading the Libby app.

WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTION
Amid declining dam levels, Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality continues to maintain, refurbish and improve its water infrastructure to reduce water losses.
It is for this reason that water will be shut off in the WESTERN SUBURBS on April 22, 2021 between 08:00 am and 17:00 pm.

FAULT AT CHURCHILL WATER TREATMENT MAY CAUSE DISRUPTIONS IN PARTS OF THE CITY
The City is currently experiencing difficulties supplying water to certain storage reservoirs due to a fault at the Churchill Water Treatment Works.
This places the system at risk as storage conditions remain low due to the ongoing drought. Contractors are currently on site assessing requirements to execute repairs.
Areas that could experience low pressure or disruptions include:

The situation will be monitored and water tankers will be made available if reservoir storage levels deplete. Their positions will be communicated throughout social media and can also be enquired from 0800205050.
Consumers are requested to use water sparingly and not to stockpile as this will accelerate the depletion of storage.
